Gentle braces with ceramic brackets and self-ligating systems

To provide you or your children with the most gentle orthodontic treatment possible, our specialized orthodontic practice in Munich utilizes state-of-the-art procedures and materials. In addition to the proven Damon System, which uses self-ligating mechanisms and a clip mechanism to attach the brackets to the teeth, we also offer ceramic brackets and rhodium-plated systems. The Damon-System

In our specialized orthodontic practice, we treat patients with state-of-the-art self-ligating bracket systems. In orthodontics, "ligation" refers to the connection of the archwire to the bracket. Self-ligating braces offer gentle mechanisms for this connection. Instead of using rubber ligatures to attach the archwire to the brackets on the teeth, self-ligating mechanisms use a clip mechanism.

This mechanism allows for frictionless sliding within the bracket, enabling a gentler treatment. Additionally, the absence of rubber ligatures reduces the accumulation of bacterial plaque on the brackets, thereby lowering the risk of cavities through improved oral hygiene. The use of the Damon System enhances patient comfort: gentle and continuous forces minimize stress, nickel-free ligatures prevent allergies, and the treatment duration is shorter compared to conventional fixed braces. We can also use the Damon System with ceramic brackets, making the braces more comfortable to wear and barely noticeable in appearance.

Rhodium-plated systems

Self-ligating systems also operate with a passive sliding mechanism that keeps the archwires relatively mobile within the brackets. This reduced resistance allows teeth to move faster and more comfortably. By using rhodium plating, which is also used in jewelry making, no nickel is released from the material, and the brackets have a more subtle, matte, and aesthetically pleasing appearance. The slim profile and small size of the self-ligating brackets, with smooth, rounded edges, further prevent unwanted contact and soft tissue irritation compared to standard brackets.

 

Ceramic barces

Ceramic braces with gentle ceramic brackets function in the same way as self-ligating braces made of rhodium, but they are made from ceramic or sapphire. This combines the advantages of self-ligating brackets with an almost invisible treatment that is also particularly fast and effective. Our experienced orthodontist, Dr. Sebastian Krause, uses self-ligating ceramic bracket systems that do not discolor even with prolonged use due to substances found in coffee, juices, nicotine, or tea. We are also happy to combine ceramic and rhodium systems. In this case, ceramic brackets are used in the more visible upper jaw, and discreet rhodium brackets are used in the lower jaw. This approach saves costs while still optimizing aesthetics compared to metal brackets.
