What is meant by the dental misalignment “gaps”?
In the case of the misalignment known as “gaps,” there are visible spaces between the teeth. This can be caused by a size mismatch between the jaw and the teeth or by missing teeth, which can lead to adjacent teeth tilting into the gap.
What problems are associated with gaps?
Food particles often get trapped in the spaces between teeth with gaps. This can lead to gum inflammation and gum disease. Additionally, it can cause issues with speech, eating, and aesthetics.
How can gaps be closed?
To close gaps between teeth, treatments include the use of transparent plastic aligners, such as those from Invisalign®, lingual braces (Win), or ceramic brackets. Removable braces are less suitable.
