What is a Mixed Dentition?
Mixed dentition is not a misalignment but a normal process where baby teeth fall out and permanent teeth grow in. This usually occurs between the ages of 6 and 12. Since this period can often lead to space loss and other issues, it is advisable to get an orthodontic assessment starting at age six. Early intervention can optimize the patient's growth. This allows for early treatment to prevent worsening conditions, correct improper swallowing and speech habits, and reduce accident risks from issues like extremely protruding upper teeth.
How Can Mixed Dentition Be Treated?
Suitable treatments include removable braces, with or without the combination of fixed braces. Transparent plastic aligners, known as Invisalign® aligners, as well as lingual braces (Win), are also possible options.
As specialists in dental misalignments, we are happy to inform you about your individual treatment options at your orthodontist in Munich.
