What is meant by crowding?
In the case of dental crowding, there is not enough space in the jaw for all the teeth to sit next to each other in the correct position. As a result, teeth can protrude, overlap, tilt forward or backward, rotate, or even be pushed out of the bone.
What problems are associated with crowding?
Dental crowding often makes oral hygiene difficult, promoting the accumulation of plaque, tartar, and harmful bacteria. This can lead to severe forms of cavities and gum disease. Over time, the misalignment tends to become more pronounced.
How can crowding be treated?
Dental crowding can be treated with transparent plastic aligners, such as those from Invisalign®, lingual braces (Win), or external brackets. Removable braces are less suitable.
