What is meant by mild crowding?
With mild crowding, the teeth are only slightly crooked and displaced. You may like your smile as it is - but want to love it? Often, there isn't enough space in the jaw for all teeth to sit next to each other and in the correct position. This can cause teeth to protrude, overlap, tilt forward or backward, stand rotated, or even be pushed out of the bone.
What problems are associated with mild crowding?
Mild crowding often complicates dental hygiene and thus promotes plaque, tartar, and harmful bacteria. The consequences can include severe forms of tooth decay and gum disease. Mild crowding usually becomes more pronounced with age, contrary to widespread belief, wisdom teeth play no role in this; rather, it's age-related changes in the body and jaw.
How can mild crowding be treated?
Mild crowding can be treated with transparent plastic aligners, such as Invisalign®, lingual braces (Win), or external brackets. Often, minor measures are sufficient to shift the teeth into the desired position. Treatment at your orthodontics in Munich usually lasts only a few months and is then secured for life with fixed and removable retainers (Vivera).
